AlterVedi project was launched in March 2017. The team of the project started to work with local schoolchildren and youth in order to develop a human capacity. The latter will be mobilized to create touristic infrastructures in the region next year.
Vedi region is famous with its nature, agriculture and tourism sites (Khosrov State Reserve, a big number of fortresses and churches, rich agricultural production, etc.). We want to implement our project in order to promote certain sectors in tourism (ecotourism, agritourism, archaeotourism) which will provide locals with additional financial income (they will work as guides, sell their local crafts and products, provide B&Bs and other services). In this way, we wish to tackle socio-economic issues and halt labor migration to overseas countries).
Project's main objectives are to create workplaces, increase visibility of Vedi region, discover and promote local assets, as well as create a platform of interaction between locals and people from abroad.
The project’s main target audience and beneficiaries are overseas and domestic tourists, youth and entrepreneurs of Vedi region.
The project’s expected outcomes are a team of young English-speaking tourism staff, tourism center (serving as a hostel/hotel), well-developed entrepreneurship, and, as a main outcome, green and eco-friendly community in Vedi region.
