“AYG” Educational Development Center was founded in July 2017. It aims to ensure dissemination of possibilities for education, employment and social inclusion to the youth of Aragatsotn region as well as to support youth initiatives there. “Go ahead Girls!” is one of those youth initiatives which aims to reveal the potential of girls in the sphere of Information and Communication Technologies for community benefits.
About the project: We are the Girls’ Punch Team from School #2 in Ashtarak, Aragatsotn region. Last year we received the Regional Grand Prize for the development of mobile application “Safe Internet” in Technovation Armenia 2017 competition. We won the prize thanks to our commitment to the goal we set and our devoted coach. But our victory didn’t come easily since we had very limited technical facilities for developing a mobile application. However, we have identified a new community problem and we intend to participate in Technovation Armenia 2018 competition with an extended team of girls from our region and to present a more advanced mobile application as an innovative solution for this problem.
For this purpose we’re looking for a fundraising specialist who will help our team to write and send a solid and professional fundraising letter to organizations worldwide asking them to donate their used computers or laptops. We then will be able to set a computer laboratory at our school, engage more girls from the schools and communities and to start preparing for Technovation Armenia 2018 competition.
The project’s main objective: to set up a computer laboratory that will enable engaging more girls from Aragatsotn region around exploring the area of Information and Communication Technologies.
The project’s main target audience and beneficiaries: girls aged 10-18 from all communities in Aragatsotn region.
The project’s main expected outcome: to form groups working on business plan and mobile application development for participation in Technovation Armenia 2018.
The project’s main activites: 1. Introduce to basics of coding, 2. Develop and test mobile application through App Inventor software developed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT, 3. Work on business plan development 4. Prepare the package to be submitted to Technovation Armenia 2018 competition.
